Super strategies for PTE Reading: Re-order paragraphs:
It is not really simple but there is a super strategy as below and it might be useful in your exam.
Don’t spend more than 3 minutes on each of these. Ideally, you should spend around 2 minutes.
First, you need to find the independent sentence and it is very easy to find that. Other sentences would be dependent on other sentences except one that you need to find. Independent sentence introduces the topic of the paragraph and is complete in meaning. It doesn’t refer back to other sentences.
Second, read the flow of the information into the sentences and then using grammatical hints, find the other sentences in order.
Strategy:
Sentence 1: Subject + verb + object
Sentence 2: Subject + verb + object
Sentence 3: Subject + verb + object
The object of the 1st sentence becomes the subject of the 2nd sentence.
The object of the 2nd sentence becomes the subject of the 3rd sentence.
For example,
Sentence 1: I saw a lion.
Sentence 2: The lion was chasing one dog.
Sentence 3: The dog was chasing a cat.
